Setting up was complex, wouldn't pick up my wireless network, after hours on the phone to HP support, speaking with someone in Indonesia and explaining everything 5 times it was decided the printer was faulty. Apple had it to my door 2 days later, great service. buy a printer that is airprint and is known to work with TC. eg TC default is 10.0.1.1 set the dlink to 10.0.1.254 then setup the wireless to suit the printer. set the dlink to off dhcp and set its ip to the same range as the TC but different ip. plug it into the TC lan to lan port by ethernet. Otherwise i recommend you just use the dlink router.

See if there is a firmware upgrade for the printer. It might well work with the dlink because it is using tkip not aes for the setting of security. Set the security to wpa/wpa2 which is not as good, but if the printer is old it may not handle wpa2 AES. Set the wireless to fixed channel and fixed mode. so that you force things to new settings.Īll names short no spaces. I also have a Sony Bravia television I'm using to test the network connection, and the TV connects without any problem whatever I use the D-Link router or the TimeCapsule router: It works fine. I simply wonder if this HP printer is working with the latest version of TimeCapsule. So to me, it seems the network security setting is not the problem.
(*) When I select the discovered SSID on the printer, it comes back on the printer name with the name of the network and the fact there is no security set. Printing the report form from the printer does simply say that the network SSID "" is not available. If I setup my TimeCapsule without any security, the printer detects there is no security (*) on my network but fails when it comes to establish the Wifi connection. So if someone succeed to connect its HP Photosmart 7510 Printer with a Time Capsule of Apple, it would be nice to share the parameters being used to make it work. Using my old D-Link Dir-635 router, the printer can connect on the WIFI without any problem. On the same page, I found the following additional information : Solution : Modify the coding parameter "WPA-AES" or "WPA-AES/TKIP" (also called "mixte mode") of your router, then reapply the wireless connection assistant" The WPA-TKIP security is desactivated on recent 801.11n peripherals, because the WPA-AES security is higher. This can be due to the following parameter of the router : 1) 802.11n peripherals only 2) Exclusive WPA-TKIP coding.
